First, let us truly thank you for being here. The tastings would not be successful without the friends, family & community members that come out in droves, despite snow, sleet and rain, to taste our food & offer support. Thank you!

hava and irina

Now here's a little info about us and our deli schemes. Hava’s background is in social justice primarily focused on ending violence against women & children. Irina’s background is in community art and urban sociology. Our kitchen is a gathering place for our community. Cooking isn’t just a passion for us, it’s a way of life. Hava grew up working in a family restaurant and Irina learned how to cook Russian Jewish foods from her mother. There couldn’t be a better combination!

The Dream and Inspiration
Our lifelong dream of opening a Jewish Delicatessen is in our reach, and we couldn’t be more pleased to bring a delicious Jewish presence into downtown Olympia. We are looking forward to finalizing our list of grocery vendors, solidifying our menu, CHOOSING A NEW NAME and getting everything down on paper in order to open our doors for you later this year!

Slow Food is becoming a reality for many of us in the Pacific Northwest. The food movements that are showing hope of making some positive social change in this world have inspired both Irina & Hava. The inspiration to bring this way of living and eating into the home is our main motivation. Our dream is to have you cooking too!

Thought For Food
Each dish that has been selected for the tastings, and ultimately the deli, has a tremendous amount of thought behind it. There’s the cultural components; Russian, Hungarian & Jewish. Then, there’s the commitment to local and organic foods, engaging in practices that promote economic and social justice within our own company, as well as the vendors we choose to purchase from. We are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment in the ways that we obtain our ingredients, the way we cook the foods, and finally, the way you purchase and eat them!
